Our Story
Howell’s Harvests was born from a shared love of teaching, community, and homemade food. Founded by Donald Howell and Jeanine Piatz, both dedicated school teachers, our business combines our passions in a unique way. Jeanine, a science teacher, discovered a fascination with freeze-drying—an innovative process that locks in the flavor and nutrients of food while making it last. What started as a curiosity quickly turned into a creative journey. Over the past year, we’ve brought our homemade and freeze-dried creations to farmers markets and events, including the beloved Madison County Covered Bridge Festival, where we’ve had the joy of connecting with our community and sharing what we love.
